European photographers impressed by Guangdong folk culture

Foshan Lion Dance [Photo/Chan, newsgd.com]

“Lion dancing is very common in every Easter holiday in Italy. Chinese people in Italy, and even some Italian are able to perform the show.” Italian photographer Trizzino Lucio shared his experience of the special Cantonese custom when he visited Foshan Ancestral Temple (Zumiao) Museum on May 12.

Foshan Zumiao Museum is a folk museum featuring architecture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and Foshan’s traditional culture. The collections housed in the museum are mainly cultural relics about Daoism and Foshan local folk art. Performances in Zumiao like lion dancing and martial arts is seen as a cultural successor to commemorate Foshan Kungfu master Huang Fei-hong.

The photographers then visited Bruce Lee’s ancestor’s house in Junan County, Shunde on May 13. French photographer Cecile Zehnacker said she knew about Bruce Lee when she was in primary school. She admitted she had watched several Bruce’s movies.
