Latest Updated by 2006-12-15 09:07:20

South Korea defeated China 3-1 to lift men's hockey title at the Doha Asian Games on Thursday.

South Korea took the upper hand all through the match. South Koreans set up a 2-1 lead in the first half, but it's China who scored first.

China won only two chances to shot including a penalty corner. China's Na Yubo deflected their penalty corner into net in eighth minute.

South Korea took their first penalty corner in the fifth minute, but Jang Jong Hyun's shot was saved by China's goalkeeper Su Rifeng, who had a very busy first half.

In the 11th minute, Yoon Sung Hoon scored in the right corner to level the match 1-1. Only 4 minutes later, South Korean Yeo Woon Kon's powerful shot was deflected into net by China's defender, earning their second goal from the left penalty corner.

China's second chance to shot came in the 20th minute with Hu Liang's shot was saved by South Korea's goalkeeper Ko Dong Sik.

South Korea found a few more opportunities, but failed to score in the remaining time of the first half.

You Hyo Sik's long shot in the 22nd minute went wide. China's heroic goalkeeper Su Rifeng ensured the safety of their net by saving Seo Jong Ho and JANG Jong Hyun's shots in 25th and 41st minutes.

South Korea got seven shots and two penalty corners against China's two shots and one penalty corner in the first half.

South Korea continued to impose pressure on China in the second half, forcing four more penalty corners but failed to score further in front of China's tight defense.

Meng Xuguang's foul in the 65th minute in semi-circle rendered South Korea a penalty. Yeo Woon Kon converted the penalty with an air ball, expanding South Korea to a 3-1 lead.

China's only shot in the second half was from Song Yi in the 43rd minute out of penalty corner.
