Shenzhen's Chen Lina clinched the women's Mistral class sailing competition title at the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, on Monday, bagging the fifth Doha Games gold medal for Shenzhen.
Chen, 21, won the first sailing event at the Asiad with a tiny edge over her rival Chan Wai-kei from Hong Kong of China, who got the silver.
"I did very well in the last five or six races due to light wind, so I had the chance (to win the gold)," Chen told Xinhua after the victory.
Chen and Chan had equal net points of 12, but Chen scored five first finishes out of total nine races, while Chan collected four.
Gymnast Feng Jing, 21, was the first Shenzhener to clinch a gold medal at Doha after he and his teammates won the men's team gymnastics Dec. 2.
Liu Gang, 22, won the men's 50m rifle prone Dec. 4, becoming the first Shenzhener to bag an individual gold at the Games.
Women's judo player Gao Feng, 24, grabbed the gold medal in 48kg category Dec. 5.
Liu Hong, 19, became the fourth Shenzhener to bag a gold at Doha when she won the women's 20km walk Dec. 7.
Among the Chinese athletes competing at Doha, 18 are from Shenzhen. The prolific performance by Shenzhen athletes at the Doha Games shows Shenzhen now has a pool of top athletes in gymnastics, shooting, judo, track and field, sailing and swimming.
