Artists and performers from South China's Guangdong province greatly impress the people in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur Region, France during the China Guangdong Culture Days held here on June 18th through 20th, by a series of presentations featuring Guangdong's Lingnan culture, including lion dance, puppet shows, Yue opera, etc.
The activity, reported to be the largest overseas culture week activities ever held by South China's Guangdong Province, is warmly welcomed by the local people and becomes a highlight of the local media.
The on-stage performances of the culture week are arranged by the government of the Province-Alpes-Cote d'Azur Region to be held on June 18th, the longest day of a year in the region.
Many citizens in Marseilles, France tell the reporter although they have never been to Guangdong, the martial art and puppet shows, etc. are not at all strange to them, and they are really fond of them.
Guangdong, as a pioneer of China's reforming and opening, has long been known all around the world for its prosperous economy, according to Li Xiaosu, Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Marseilles.
Through the Culture week, people in France's Province-Alpes-Cote d'Azur Region have a chance to taste the martial art's-based lion dance, traditional paper cutting and puppet shows and calligraphy show by children, as well as a photo exhibition called "Guangdong Today", presenting Guangdong's new look in the new era. At the same time, live shows by Guangdong's folk artists will fascinate the French people with the vitality of their art.
A delegation including thirty Guangdong citizens is also sent to France to cheer for the activity.
Moreover, more than thirty enterprises are invited to the region for some economic and trade communication activities.
After their performances concluding in France on June 20th, the artists and stage performers will move to Spain for similar activities.
