FRENCH curator Ante Glibota is collaborating with the Guan Shanyue Art Museum to present Arthur Unger's art exhibition from Tuesday through June 6 as part of the China-France Culture Year.
This has been the fourth time Glibota has visited Shenzhen since 1999 and he knows the city's architecture well.
"When I speak about Chinese architecture in Europe, I always say two cities in China are of interest to me: They are Shenzhen and Shanghai," said Glibota, 59.
Glibota was impressed with the buildings in the new city center in Futian District and particularly liked the design of the Children's Palace, which is just opposite the Guan Shanyue Art Museum.
"In my opinion, this is the best building in Shenzhen because it is modern, intelligent and avant-garde in both form and spirit," he said.
He believes Shenzhen, as a city of youth and high-technology, should build more futuristic and avant-garde buildings, which would correspond with the mainstream art trends today.
An acclaimed curator who runs his own art consulting company in Paris, Glibota has staged more than 400 art exhibitions all over the world.
He plans to promote more art exchanges between France and China by organizing more art exhibitions here and in France in the future.
