Novotel Baiyun Airport Guangzhou, the airport's first five-star Hotel, opened on Sunday (Jan 7). The hotel is only a five minute walk from the hotel to the airport's check-in counter. Udo H Doring, General Manager with the hotel, said that the hotel is designed to accommodate passengers who are on connecting international flights.
"There's more and more international flights coming into Guangzhou, which are arriving pretty late, especially when you think the flights coming from Australia or so on. They come into Guangzhou, the people can't go on to another destination, if it is Xiamen, Shanghai or whatever. So the people have to stay overnight. Obiviously we are working very very close with all airlines to have this kind of business."
The hotel is owned by a French hotel corporation and is located on the northern side of the airport. It has 460 rooms which can accommodate 920 guests. The hotel's price range is from 980 yuan to over 21,000 yuan per night.
