Guangzhou Baiyun airport began to adopt new international departure procedures on Oct 12th.
Baiyun airport added two international flight check-in areas, area H and area J. The airport now has a total of 4 international flight check-in areas (F, G, H, J) with 68 check-in counters. And the domestic flights check-in handled in area J before now moves to area L.
The glass walls of the international departure hall had been removed and the move is expected to reduce the crowd at the entrance of the international departure hall and people can have a big hung and say good-bye before the boarding gate.
In addition, the airport had input 1.6 million yuan to advance its facilities and synchronize the checks that both the passengers and their baggage are subject to. These checks include the security check, customs check and inspection and quarantine
New procedures: Check-in → baggage delivery → Inspection & Quarantine → Customs → Frontier Inspection → Security check → Waiting & Boarding
Old procedures: Inspection & Quarantine → Customs → Frontier Inspection → Security check → Check-in → baggage delivery → Waiting & Boarding
The new Baiyun Airport was put into use last year and has seen a rapid increase in international flight business since then: nine international airlines launched maiden flights here and eight foreign cities were added to the list of its destinations. The south China air hub currently has 119 domestic and international routes.
