Guangdong launched a three-year processing trade transformation and upgrade campaign in August so that by 2015, Guangdong's machinery and electrical product and hi-tech product manufacturing (overlapped with each other) will contribute 80 percent and 50 percent of the processing trade export respectively.

Technology-intensive and capital-intensive enterprises will account for 60 percent of the processing trade enterprises in number, and Guangdong's processing trade will have over 3,000 R&D units and over 20,000 self-owned brands in the next three years.

The processing trade campaign plan includes 42 measures on competitiveness enhancement, layout optimization, related industrial parks and platforms construction and soft environment betterment.

The province's processing trade will continue to deepen cooperation with the EU, US and Japanese markets and reach out to emerging markets in Central Asia, South America and Africa. The province will organize 30 to 40 trade promotion activities to overseas buyers and by 2015, the export to emerging market is expected to increase to 21 percent or more of the total processing trade's export.
