The Guiyang-Guangzhou high- speed rail, with a total length of 857 kilometers, is expected to open to traffic at the end of 2014. It connects Guiyang, capital of Guizhou, with Guangzhou, capital of southern Guangdong Province, one of the country's economic powerhouses. At the scheduled time, the whole journey will only take about 3 hours while it takes more than 24 hours by sleeper coach previously.
