Consuls general in Hong Kong visit Hengqin

On March 20, 2015, 17 consuls general and other officials from consulates in Hong Kong visited Zhuhai to learn about the Hengqin Free Trade Zone. The delegation members were from 22 countries including Angola, Australia and Chile. Song Ru'an, deputy commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Li Zhenghua, second director of the Guangdong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, were also among the delegation.

Liu Jia, secretary of the Party committee in Hengqin New Area, delivered a report on the overall economic and social development in Zhuhai to the visitors.

"With the promotion of reform and opening up, Zhuhai has become a modern coastal city with a variety of opportunities. It is now one of the most attractive cities in China. We hope more countries can come to Zhuhai and invest here," Liu said.

During their trip, the delegation members visited Hengqin New Area's planning and construction exhibition hall, where Hengqin officials introduced the guests to the latest developments in the Hengqin New Area. In the days to come, the delegation will continue on to Nansha in Guangzhou and Qianhai in Shenzhen.
