    Carl-Henric Svanberg is President and CEO of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson.
  
  Mr. Svanberg joined Ericsson on April 8, 2003. Between 1994 and 2003 he was President and CEO of the Assa Abloy Group.
  
  From 1986 to 1994, Mr. Svanberg worked for the world leading security company Securitas. In 1990, he was named First Executive Vice President for the Securitas Group, with responsibility for alarm solutions and locks.
  
  From 1977 to 1985, Mr. Svanberg held various foreign assignments within project exports for Asea Brown Boveri (ABB).
  
  Carl-Henric Svanberg was born in Porjus, Sweden, in 1952. He holds a Master of Science degree from Link?ping Institute of Technology, Sweden, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Uppsala University, Sweden. In 2004 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Luleå University of Technology, Sweden.

Ericsson

Ericsson is proud of its co-operation with China spanning more than a century. It all began in 1892 with an order for 2,000 Ericsson telephones, which arrived in Shanghai two years later. In 1906, when Chinese officials clad in Mandarin jackets came to Stockholm, Sweden, Ericsson gave them VIP treatment.   Ericsson attaches great importance to being a good corporate citizen, always approaching corporate responsibility in terms of the broader concept of sustainability, and has established an efficient, high-quality and well-developed management information system. The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) rated Ericsson as the leader in the sustainable development of communications technology sector, and Ericssons excellent environmental management system was also the first corporate winner of a worldwide ISO14001 certificate from the British Standards Institute.
  
  Ericsson rooted in China
  
  Ericsson has a long history of cooperation with China, which dates back to 1892 when Ericsson received its first order from China. In 1894, 2,000 Ericsson telephone sets sailed across the oceans to Shanghai. Ericsson has become Chinas telecom provider from then on, while its cooperation with China has stood the test of time for more than 115 years. Over the past years, especially since the launch of Chinas opening and reform policy, Ericsson has made active contributions to Chinas economic development and the rapid growth of the Chinese telecom industry with its advanced products and solutions, while contributing to the many Firsts in the history of Chinas telecom industry:

  " In 1961, first two crossbar exchanges delivered to China
  " In 1981, first digital exchange ordered by Beijing

  " In 1996, awarded the first company-wide ISO 9001 certification
  " In 1999, the industrys first open lab for mobile multi-media communications in Zhongguancun, Beijing
  " In 2000, Chinas first WCDMA Evaluation System test and reporting accomplished
  " In 2001, Chinas first mobile phone call over WCDMA trial system
  " In 2004, demonstrated the worlds first live HSDPA over commercial WCDMA system in Beijing
  " In 2005, Chinas first public live HSUPA demo over commercial WCDMA systems in Guangzhou, China (May); Chinas first public demo of HSDPA using commercially available infrastructure and PC card in Beijing (Oct); Chinas first public demo of voice/video over IP using HSDPA/HSUPA in Beijing (Oct)
  
  China is one of the most important markets of Ericsson. Whats more, it is also a strong foothold for Ericssons R&D, manufacturing and services activities worldwide.
  
  Since 2000, Ericssons R&D activities in China have grown annually by 30%, while around 25% of Ericsson Chinas staff is engaged in R&D and product development. And in 2002, all of our R&D operations in China were optimized with the establishment of the Ericsson China R&D Institute.
  
  While operators are transforming from traditional telecom services provider to integrated information services provider, their needs for telecom professional services are increasing dramatically around the globe. Ericsson has started to establish a strong Services team in China since 1995, and its Services business has been steadily growing in importance in China. Ericsson has so far set up 35 Services sites across China to offer front-line support, with more than 1,250 in-house field engineers and over 4,000 from local partners.
  
  Ericsson is also dedicated to building strong local competence in China. In 1997, the Ericsson China Academy was established in Beijing, where the Chinese telecom industrys top managers are trained in cooperation with authoritative universities MBA programs. Ericsson has set up technical training centers in Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Dalian, Hong Kong and Taiwan to provide professional training to technicians from Ericsson and its Chinese partners.
  
  Ericsson and China - growing together
  
  Information and communications technology is vital to realize sustainable development and cut energy consumption. Sustainable development and corporate social responsibility are integral to all of Ericssons activities. China is no exception, with Ericsson always taking an ethical approach. Since 1990, Ericsson has donated over RMB140 million to welfare programs in China.
