Established in Trieste in the year 1831, Assicurazioni Generali is the leading Italian insurance company. During the last few years Assicurazioni Generali has consolidated its position as one of the worlds leading insurance groups. It has signed cooperation agreements with other major companies to provide maximum assistance to its clients on a global scale. Its importance has progressively grown in Western Europe markets and the Group has recently returned to certain Central and Eastern European countries after the liberalization of their economic systems. Offices and branches have been reopened in the principal marketplaces of the Far East, which include setting up two joint venture insurance companies in China -  Generali China Life Insurance Co. A restructuring process has been undertaken and, to a large extent completed, at both Company and Group level, in Italy and abroad, to guarantee a most cost-effective, streamlined and efficient service.With the latest operations the Generali Group sees its position confirmed in terms of premium income as Europes fist ranking company in life and fourth ranking company in non-life insurance. The Group also occupies a key position amongst the worlds leading insurers and personal financial service providers, with respect to the number of countries in which it operates.
