President Group Business Development, BP China
Tee was born in Fujian, China and went to Malaysia at the age of 7. He was educated in Malaysia and spent most of his time in Malaysia. He lives in Kuala Pilah, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and now Guangzhou. He is currently a Malaysian Citizen and a Singapore PR.
Tee started his early career as Teacher and then with Motorola and Texas Instruments as Production Supervisors for only a short spell before he joined a Dutch Trading company - Hagemeyer as Sales Executive in 1976. He then progressed to Sales Manager in 1977 and then Product Manager for the Chemicals Department in 1978.
Tee joined BP as Marketing Executive in 1979 in Malaysia and progressed through the organization, holding various management positions from Chemicals Manager, Chemicals & Bitumen Manager, Special Products Manager, Business Development Manager and finally to Planning and Business Development Manager.
He moved to Singapore in 1990, when he became the Regional Retail Operations Manager. In 1991 he became the Downstream Regional Business Development Manager responsible for the new entry and business development activities in Vietnam and China. In 1994 he became the OSE Director / General Manager Business Development for South East Asia until 1996, when he was relocated to Guangzhou, China as the Downstream General Manager responsible for all the downstream activities in China .
In 1997 Tee was appointed President of BP Amoco Oil China, which has activities covering 17 joint ventures across different provinces, a nationwide lubricant business, and huge business development activities in China. In February this year he was again appointed as President - Group Business Development BP China looking principally at Downstream , Gas & Power business development activities across China.
He has a B.S. ( Honours ) degree in Chemistry from the University of Malaysia and a postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration also from Malaysia, a Diploma in Marketing, Institute of Marketing ,UK and a M. B. A. from UK.
Tee currently lives in Guangzhou, with his wife and two children living in Singapore. His hobbies include swimming, jogging, tennis, reading and music.
