Chief Representative Motorola China
Tom Sun is now the Chief Representative of Motorola (China) Electronics Ltd.
Tom Sun has worked in the States, Taiwan and China mainland for many years, accumulating rich experience in customer management, quality management, human resources development, consultancy and asset management.
He joined Motorola in the Chicago head office as a Sector Manager of Communications Sector in 1986. In 1988, he was transferred to the Land Mobile Product Sector as an Asset Management Director, responsible for planning and managing Motorola global resources.
In 1993, Tom was made Vice President and Director of Logistic Operations at Motorola (China) Electronics Ltd. His responsibilities included planning and managing Motorola's operations for Chinese market. Under Tom's leadership, Motorola China's operation was significantly expanded.
Tom was promoted to the Chairman and President of Motorola Electronics Taiwan Ltd. in 1997, responsible for managing Motorola's operation in Taiwan. Under his outstanding leadership, Motorola Taiwan won lots of awards in recent years. In September of 2000, Tom was elected as one of the 200 most influential people in Taiwan and granted the Golden Peak Award. In addition, Motorola Taiwan was awarded many prizes in customer satisfaction, brand management, supply-chain management, quality management and corporate culture management. In 2004, Motorola Taiwan was awarded the first prize of "Benchmark Enterprise" in addition to other titles.
In 2002, Tom was added additional responsibility as the General Manager of Motorola University in the Asia Pacific region. He was responsible for promoting the implementation of Motorola's new strategy, leveraging Motorola's powerful brand advantage and six-sigma quality management to cooperate closely with enterprises, customers and suppliers in this region.
In 2003, Tom was elected as the first Chairman of "International Procurement Association of Taiwan's Communications Industry". He has elevated the core competence for the Communications Industry value chain in Taiwan.
Before joining Motorola, Tom had worked at St. Paul and Zenith Electronics for 8 years. Tom Sun pursued further studies in the United States after gaining his bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering in Taiwan. He graduated with a master degree in Industrial Engineering from the Illinois State University in 1978.
