200,000 overseas buyers flock to Canton Fair

The 113th China Import and Export Fair (the Canton Fair) opened in Guangzhou on April 15. For the first time ever, organizers offer free accommodation to exhibitors who have successfully brought buyers to the fair. Moreover, the organizers have launched the Design Excellence Awards for Canton Fair Export Products.

According to Liu Jianjun, spokesman of the Canton Fair, thanks to the global economic recovery, this fair is expected to attract a greater number of trade visitors. It's estimated that approximately 200,000 overseas buyers will flock to the world's premier trade fair over the next three weeks.

The current Canton Fair features a total of 59,531 booths, 22 more than the last session, spreads out on exhibition floors of 1.16 million square meters. The total number of participating domestic and overseas enterprises has reached 24,746, including 562 overseas enterprises from 38 foreign countries and regions which have set up 11 national or regional exhibition areas.

Business promotions at the present Canton Fair is focused on 11 foreign countries and regions, including India, Brazil and Turkey. And organizers are increasing efforts to showcase a number of emerging markets with broad prospects, such as Malaysia, India and Russia and to woo buyers from second- and third-tier cities in traditional high-quality markets, such as the US and EU. The number of business promotions at the current fair is expected to exceed the total of last year.
