4,000 young volunteers, selected from nearly 40 thousand applicants, have received training conducted by Guangzhou Young Volunteers Association between April 19th and 20th. The training focused on nature of voluntary services, knowledge concerning Olympics and torch relay and ability of dealing with safety issues and emergencies.

Over 90% of the 4,000 volunteers are youngsters most of whom are college or middle school students. Of all the volunteers are 20 disabled persons from rehabilitation centers who won solicitation of volunteers based on their enthusiasm and special skills.

Guangzhou will witness Olympic torch relay in May 7th, when the 4,000 volunteers shall provide voluntary services and logistics support for 207 torchbearers at 8 sites along the route.

Besides, those volunteers will assist departments of public security to maintain order. For each team, there will be a volunteer in charge of safety issues reported by their teammates immediately n case of emergency.
