GZ practices security checks for metro passengers

The security work of Baiyun Airport has been tightened up with the upcoming Beijing Olympics. Some passengers may have to undergo three security checks.

The first check would be implemented on all the passengers before they enter the Terminal Building. The check is comparatively simple and would focus on the passengers’ luggage to avoid flammable, explosive or other dangerous materials into the Terminal Building. The second check would be a routine and comprehensive check on all the passengers when they have finished their boarding procedures and entered the security passage. The check would focus on all kinds of banned materials, including metal materials, as well as flammable and explosive materials. The second check would be the usual check just like we have taken before. The third check is an anti-explosive check in the airport waiting lounge. It would be focused on flammable and explosive materials and is a selective check. There are two detonator-detection spot-checks in the three inspections. The relevant staff of Baiyun Airport Security Station said this kind of inspection means may be normalized in the future.

To ensure air transport safety, detonator detectors have been installed in the Baiyun Airport waiting lounge. Two special staff members would be responsible for each detector. They would check the passengers and their luggage incessantly in the day and would create a detailed record to ensure the smooth progress of security work.
