The much-anticipated scheme for subsidizing Asian Games bus fares was finalized at an executive conference of the Guangzhou Municipal Government on December 27. The scheme sets forth the applicability and rates of the subsidies. The subsidies will be paid from January 12 to March 31, 2011 via local neighborhood committees. The subsidies will be forfeited if no claimed after the deadline.

The final version of the scheme is largely the same as its draft version for public consultation, except that the final version specifies the period of time when the subsidies will be paid.

Eligible households and migrants can collect the subsidies from their local neighborhood committees during the specified period of time any day of the week, except the Lunar New Year holidays from February 2 to 9, 2011.

For students at tertiary institutions and technical schools, the Municipal Finance Bureau or the district governments will pay the subsidies into the accounts of their schools, and the subsidies will be then paid to eligible individual students by their respective schools.
