But this Record breaker was actually not a so-called born-to-ride talent. She even couldn't ride before her training in 2008. It was her coach who discovered her potential. At the beginning of her training, She couldn't control her balance at the bike and had falling for thousands of times, she even got a concussion after one falling, which made her become scared of bikes. Her parents, taking into account of her phycial contition and the danger the sport might cause, also oppose her. However, this confident and perseverant girl do not want to give up halfway and she finally overcomed herself after trying many times. She said "the only thing that makes me keep going on this sport is my desire to prove myself and my coach's recognition and expectation." She is really grateful and contribute her sucess to her coach," It was my coach bring me to this stage." She added.

Ruan said she never feels herself inferior, moreover, she is confident and optimistic. Talking about her performance today, she said she can be faster and probably to finish in 39 seconds. she has already set eyes on London Paralympics, but she has to target next year's National Games first. " Step by Step," she said ,"and I believe I can make it!"
