A series of events showcasing the best of Italy will be organized in May by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) to mark the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF) being held that month in Shenzhen.
"2006 is the Year of Italy in China, and we hope to bring diversified Italian programs to the city," Xiong Luanhua, assistant to the CICC president, said yesterday.
Though the chamber is still working on the detailed schedule, Xiong said some of the events in the pipeline include an Italian-flavored gala dinner, a jewelry fair, a car show and food festivals in hotels.
The chamber will also lead a delegation of Italian exhibitors to the fair.
The ICIF organizer said it will help establish a Chinese art trading network for British businessmen and set up a minifair in Malaysia to showcase Chinese calligraphy, paintings, handicraft and arts.
The ICIF will also hold 12 forums, with the major one having the theme of "The international cultural trade and China" on May 19, the organizer said.
