2018 Guangdong Legislative Session to open on Jan 25th

The first plenary session of the 13th Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress is to be held from January 25th to January 31st, according to Nanfang Daily.

Huang Juequn, the spokesman of the 2018 Guangdong Legislative session and the deputy secretary of the standing committee of Guangdong's Provincial People’s Congress, stated that the panel will summarize Guangdong’s achievements in the spheres of politics, economics, culture, society and ecology over the last year, and set out the mission and work statements for the province over the coming year, and in some cases, over the next 5 years.

One of the key elements of the session is the election of both the governor and vice governors of the provincial government. Furthmore elections will be held to determine post holders for the following: the President of the Guangdong Provincial Higher Peoples Court, and the Procurator-general of the Guangdong Provincial People's Procuratorate.

According to Huang, this year, the standing committee of the Guangdong People’s Congress will see the attendance of 10 overseas Chinese and 72 officials from Consulate General offices in Guangzhou of 47 different countries have also been invited to attend.
