The CPPCC municipal committee has contributed much to the prosperity of socialist consultative democracy undertakings over the past five years, during which economically and socially sustainable and sound development was achieved, Chen said.

The report summarized achievements the organization has made from five perspectives. Firstly, the committee brought a closer alignment around the city's development priorities with a view to overall planning. Secondly, it promoted the spirit of reform and innovation and opened up new dimensions in promoting a consultative democracy. Thirdly, it made progress in boosting social harmony. Fourthly, it expanded joint efforts from unified groups and moved forward in creating synergies for development. Finally, the committee continued strengthening self-construction to further cultivate itself as a study-oriented organization.

Outstanding proposals were awarded during the session. CPPCC provincial committee members and organization leader delegates from Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhuhai attended the session. Also among the attendees were some prominent overseas Chinese and Taiwan businesspeople.
