A traditional ritual, called "dragon boat lifting," was held in villages throughout Guangzhou this week due to the Dragon Boat Festival is around the corner. The event, which usually occurs around April 8 on the Chinese lunar calendar, fell on May 3 this year.
Villagers from Pantang village in Liwan district and Xiazhuang village in Baiyun district were among those, on this day, who dragged out the dragon boats that are kept under water right before the arrival of the Dragon Boat Festival.
