Guangdong unveils strategic emerging industries blue print

LED

Guangzhou and Shenzhen will expand LED innovation and service outsourcing projects. Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Jiangmen and Zhongshan will develop LED manufacturing projects. Foshan and Zhongshan will take advantage of LED technology to upgrade their traditional lighting manufacturing. The province will push forward the LED applications in vehicles, LCD, household electric products and consumer electronics product manufacturing.

Bio Industry

Zhanjiang, Yangjiang and Maoming will develop medical manufacturing bases. Yunfu will construct a leading animal vaccine base and Zhaoqing will develop bio-medicine and animal vaccine bases. Shaoguan will develop a traditional Chinese medicine and bio medicine base. Heyuan will develop traditional Chinese medicine preparation and anti-cancer bio-medicine projects. Jieyang will develop traditional Chinese medicine and bio health products. Shantou will develop emerging medical instruments. Also a marine bio medicine belt will be built along the province's coast.

High-end Equipment Manufacturing

A West Coast Aviation Industrial Cluster, covering Zhuhai, Yangjiang and Zhanjiang, will focus on general use airplane design, manufacturing, maintenance, air show, training and operation services, with Zhuhai as the core. Guangzhou, Dongguan and Foshan will focus on airline logistics, aviation part processing and other related equipment manufacturing. The East Coast Aviation Industrial Cluster of the province will develop aviation electronics manufacturing and airline logistics.

Jiangmen and Guangzhou will develop railway equipment manufacturing. Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Zhongshan will develop shipbuilding and marine project equipment bases. Guangzhou and Foshan will input effort on digital control machine tools and precise processing equipment manufacturing. Guangzhou and Jiangmen will develop high-end agricultural machinery.

Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Industry

The province will push forward in energy saving in the steel manufacturing industry. Energy saving household electric appliance research and development and manufacturing bases will be constructed in Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan and Zhanjiang. Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhuhai will further their efforts in air conditioner upgrading. Shenzhen, Foshan and east Guangdong will develop energy saving building material industrial bases. Guangzhou and Dongguan will build energy saving glass manufacturing.

Efforts will also go towards waste and sewage treatment projects, especially projects in industrial waste recycling and treatment. Dongguan, Foshan, Zhongshan, Huizhou and Heyuan will develop environmental monitoring product manufacturing bases.

New Energy Industry

Nuclear power generation development will focus on the nuclear power plant equipment manufacturing projects in Nansha, Jiangmen (Taishan) and Shenzhen. Solar PV bases in Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan and Heyuan will be further expanded and push forward in related manufacturing in Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Jieyang and other cities.

The province will enhance its development of wind power projects in Zhongshan, Foshan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan. It will also build one or two offshore wind power demonstration bases in the next few years.

New Materials Industry

Guangdong's 21 cities will develop new material projects according to their own advantages. For example, Guangzhou will develop a new material innovation base, modified plastics base and carbon fiber manufacturing base and Shenzhen will support its projects related to electronics and IT materials, recycling battery materials and materials with special functions.
