Special buses will transport overseas buyers at the Canton Fair in Guangzhou to an oil painting expo in Longgang District, Shenzhen, each day from Oct. 15 to Nov. 4.

The Second China (Shenzhen) Oil Painting Expo opened at Dafen Oil Painting Village yesterday, attracting overseas buyers and visitors to the Canton Fair, and promoting the oil painting trade on the international market, the fair organizing committee said yesterday.

The expo, the largest of its kind in China, features a wide range of exhibitions, lectures and forums. An oil painting auction and competition for young painters will also be held.

There will be 100 booths for original paintings for well-known Chinese art galleries and artists. A third-party evaluation will be available for visitors and exhibitors.

There will also be 180 booths for painting trade companies from China and overseas.

The expo also has 100 booths for professional buyers and regular visitors.

High-quality paintings will be available at reasonable prices, the organizer said.

The theme of this year’s forum is about the upgrading and transformation of China’s cultural industry.

Total trade volume at the expo is expected to reach 700 million yuan (US$106 million).

Last year’s expo, which was held from Dec. 3 to 15, attracted exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions and the trade volume reached 600 million yuan.
