The transportation authority has agreed to arrange for over 4,000 taxis serving the Pazhou and Liuhua Complexes to pick up merchants attending the Canton Fair if need be. With the increase in the number of merchants attending the Fair, the Guangzhou Transportation Authority may utilize the capacity of 200 to 400 vehicles for emergency transportation at any time so as to evacuate merchants quickly.
At around five o'clock on the afternoon of April 15, a large number of merchants came out of Pazhou Complex needing transportation. The on-scene commander of the Transportation Authority ordered an immediate expansion of the number of taxis at the passenger pick-up points increasing the number of vehicles to the maximum of four lanes so as to ensure that the merchants could take a taxi within 15 minutes after they came out of the complex. It is estimated that the waiting period for taxis will be a little longer at the time the complex closes.
There are also buses from Guangzhou No. One Bus Company and Guangzhou No. Two Bus Company to the east of the main entrance of the Pazhou Complex also assigned the task of picking up the participating merchants. The buses travel to Huanshi Road East, Dongfeng Road, Haizhu Square and other points and there are on-scene guides to direct the merchants in English.
