The government-controlled hotel rate ceiling for the coming Chinese Export and Import Commodities Fair (also called "Canton Fair") in Guangzhou will increase by 15 % over last year.

The maximum allowed rate is RMB 3, 300 for business standard rooms in five-star hotels, while the lowest is RMB 505 for a standard room in a two-star hotel.

Prince authorities said the hotel rate ceilings during the Canton Fair are the maximum allowed at any time during the year.

Special suites and platinum five-star hotels are not included in the ceiling controls. The Garden Hotel's application to be a platinum five-star hotel is being considered by the state tourism administration, and is thus exempted from rate control.
