The Pan Pearl River Delta (PPRD) regional co-operation, a growing force in Asia that backs economic integration, made a new progress today - a website (www.pprd.com.cn) covering comprehensive information on PPRD cooperation starts trial-run today (June 15)!

Zhu Xiaodan, chief of publicity department of Guangdong province stresses the significance of PPRD regional cooperation and this just-born PPRD website in his speech in the launching ceremony.

The website www.pprd.com.cn is co-launched by the PPRD offices of the 9 mainland provinces/regions and 2 special administration regions. It is the first cross-regional and cross-industry website in China and offer detailed and all-facet information on this largest regional cooperation project in China through 35 channels and 52 sub-channels. Here you can read news, find detailed data and use the e-governmental services.

The undertaker of the website, www.southcn.com is one of the ten key news websites in China. And the construction of www.pprd.com.cn marks a upgrading of the giant news website to an online media providing both news and information.

Backgrounder:

The PPRD bloc members are Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Guangdong provinces, the Guangxi region, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, and the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions (SARs). These are collectively known as the '9+2' with Greater PRD (Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao) as the center.

The eight provinces and one autonomous region account for one-fifth of the mainland' area. Its economic strength accounts for one-third of the mainland's total.

The PPRD region can actually be compared to the 10-nation ASEAN group in its population, economy, external trade volume and foreign investment.

PPRD members have a diverse range of industries and resources and their co-operation is based on a system of complementing each other economically.
