Starting yesterday (January 5), over 250 experts from the hydrological departments of Guangdong are carrying out the largest ever inspection of the salt tides of the Pearl River Delta.
The central and provincial governments and hydrological departments at all levels will spend over 10 million in this project.
Experts are testing water samples once every hour in salt tide affected cities including Guangzhou, Huizhou, Foshan and Zhaoqing. The project will last until the Spring Festival. This inspection will provide the latest statistics for the establishment of an early warning system for salt tides.
