In the first quarter of the year, 1668 new Hong Kong funded enterprises opened in Guangdong, despite the mounting burden to enterprises created by US secondary load crisis and RMB appreciation. Hong Kong added its investment in Guangdong mainly in the fields of information transmission, computer-related service, software, retail and wholesale, house let, business-related service. And source reveals, State Administration for Industry and Commerce has authorized local administrations to file the registration of foreign funded enterprises, which simplifies Hong Kong investors' application for starting business in Guangdong.
The Guangzhou-Shenzhen portion of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong express rail is expected to complete in 2010. The Shenzhen station design has finished and the Futian Station of Shenzhen-Hong Kong portion project proposal has got approval from authority.
Besides business and infrastructure, the two parties also expand their cooperation in medical service, social welfare and education. It is expected that 10 to 15 clinics with Hong Kong and Macao medical professionals will open in Guangdong. And Hong Kong residents could open homes for elderly and schools for Hong Kong children in Guangdong under simplified application procedures.
