Head of crime investigation units of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Thursday (April. 24) held the 14th tripartite meeting in Hong Kong with a view of combating cross- boundary crimes and improving the law and order situations in the three places.

Led by Hong Kong Acting Commissioner of Police, Yam Tat-wing, representatives from the Hong Kong Police Force met their Guangdong and Macao counterparts at the Police Headquarters in Wan Chai.

The Guangdong delegation was led by the Deputy Director General of Guangdong Public Security Department, Zheng Dong while the Macao delegation was headed by Commissioner General of Unitary Police Service Jose Proenca Branco.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Yam said that law enforcers from the three places had discussed the latest situation and issues that were commonly encountered in tripartite co- operation in crime investigation and the strategies concerned.

"We had in-depth exchanges on the latest trend on cross- boundary crimes, their modus operandi, our strategies and objectives to combat these crimes," Yam said.

He also highlighted that the meeting had thorough discussion on joint operations against cross-boundary crimes and tripartite exchange of intelligence and co-operation in crime investigation.

"We also review, among other things, our detective training, exchanges and reciprocal visits in the three places," he said.

Yam added that the meeting had achieved fruitful results. Over the years, many serious and organized crimes were successfully detected and this demonstrated that the close liaison between the crime investigation units of the three places had positive impact on combating cross-boundary crimes.
