Macao has collected over 60 tons of relief goods for the violence-stricken Timor-Leste (East Timor) since the city launched the relief campaign in the past week, local media reported Tuesday.
The Macao Post Daily quoted sources from the Timor-Leste Humanitarian Relief Commission as saying that the relief items, including food stuffs, summer cloth, kitchen utensils and remedies will soon be sent to Timor-Leste by charter flights.
International aid agencies estimated that over 100,000 people in the riot-torn Timor-Leste, around 10 percent of the country's population, may have been made homeless.
