Some 400 artists from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) presented their first-day performance in Hong Kong Wednesday (Jun 23) to celebrate the 7th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).
The performance given by the PLA art troupe included chorus, music, dances, acrobats and the guard of honor with a military theme. Famous singers like Song Zuying, Yan Weiwen and Peng Liyuan joined hands with 400 odd PLA artists to put up performances.
The performing venue, Hong Kong Coliseum, was fully filled with audiences, who showed excitement and gave applause during the whole performance.
As said earlier by head of the troupe major general Wang Zhaozhai, the PLA troupe's performance was to promote cultural exchange and friendship between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong.
Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Tung Chee-hwa viewed the performance and gave thanks to the troupe on behalf of Hong Kong people at the end of the show.
"Thank you for your wonderful performance and support to Hong Kong, I hope you can come every year to encourage us," said Tung.
The proceeds of the two-day performance, estimated to be around one million HK dollars, will be donated to the Tung Wah Group Hospital, a Hong Kong charity organization.
