China began to issue the sports lottery in 1994 and total sales have hit 121.7 billion Yuan (some 15.2 billion US dollars) during the past 11 years. One third of this money has been put into the construction of sports facilities at residential areas as well as humanitarian aid.

The Olympic champion-Ambassadors, according to the sports lottery center, will help to win more financial support for the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games. They will also serve as a bridge between the sports extravaganza and millions of ordinary citizens.

Zhu Qinan & Du Li

Zhang Yining, a Beijing resident, is a women's singles World and Olympic table tennis champion.

Du Li, from east Shandong province, won the women's 10m air rifle gold medal, the first gold of the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
