White Swan Hotel closes one year for renovation

As of March, the White Swan Hotel will postpone its catering and accommodation services to begin interior renovations, which will include enlarging suites and upgrading the air conditioning, heating and fire controlling systems.


Investing over 600 million RMB, the renovation work will be guided by a world class design company, Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA). After the redecoration, the hotel will have reduced from 834 to 500 rooms with an area of about 60 square meters each .

After last September's start date the renovations are schedule for completion in 2013.

The Lingnan garden design will remain. Predominatly signified by the complete preservation of the memorable aquatic view within the hotel's Water of Homeland (Guxiang Shui), a miniature Lingnan garden.

The hotel has witnessed the history change through China's opening and reform. As the 29-year-old White Swan Hotel has been listed among the city's cultural heritage, its renovation will be strictly limited to its organic structure and style, aspiring to leave unscathed its title for "cultural heritage architecture."

It has received over 40 national heads and politician leaders from home and abroad.
