Lone horse disrupts traffic
Latest Updated by 2004-11-24 08:29:06

A lone horse wandered out of Zhongshan Park and caused traffic chaos in Nanshan District on Monday (Nov 23), the Daily Sunshine reported.

The horse was seen during lunch hour heading south in Nanshan Avenue. Traffic was brought to a standstill when the animal reached the intersection of Nanshan Avenue and Shennan Thoroughfare where there was heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

A police patrolman surnamed Shi followed the horse to protect it from being hit by vehicles as he was on his way back to the police station in Nanshan. He said he was also afraid the horse would run into pedestrians.

Nanshan police sent another two police cars to help Shi escort the horse.

After about 20 minutes, the horse owner arrived. Identifying himself as Liu, he said he had a man feeding his horse in Zhongshan Park in the morning, but the horse wandered off when the keeper went to a toilet, a Daily Sunshine report said.

However, the Southern Metropolitan News quoted Liu saying his employee had fallen asleep allowing the horse to wander off.

Liu was warned to keep a closer eye on his horse before taking his horse home.
