UNESCO World heritage center starts to handle the application of Kaiping watchtower for entering world heritage list, says an official of State Administration of Cultural Heritage on July 2nd.
Kaiping watchtowers, together with Macao historical buildings, Ruins of Yin, Fujian earth building and Honghe Hani terraced fields, apply for the world heritage title and China had summit their proposals to world heritage center as early as January, 2002.
Macao historical buildings is set to be China's only applicant to world heritage list in 2005. Kaiping watchtowers and Fujian earth building are folk buildings with local features. Ruins of Yin is the most important and most famous ruin of Yin Dynasty and also one of the sites on which Chinese archeologists started their research most earliest. Honghe Hani terraced fields is the only cultural site out of the five applying for world heritage title.
