Performances of traditional Chinese southern lion dance are staged.

The event was hosted by the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC), Administration of Sports of Guangzhou Municipality and Guangzhou All-sport Association, and joined in with local residents to celebrate the Lantern Festival and welcome the Guangzhou Asian Games slated for November 12 - 27 this year.

Chinese southern lion dance dating back 2000 years ago has long been regarded as a fun and great exercise targeting team spirit and now is part of the annual Lantern Festival celebrations in Guangzhou.

Lantern Festival or Yuanxiao Festival which is on the 15th day of the first month in the Chinese calendar falls on Sunday, February 28 this year.
