American director Quentin Tarantino
American big-name director, Quentin Tarantino, on Saturday announced in America that his next movie will be a Chinese Kungfu story.
The web portal Sina.com reports that Tarantino had signed an agreement with Hong Kong's Shaw Brothers a few years ago, appointing him to remake some of the company's movies. But it is thought that he has had to change the plots completely.
The director himself has said he expects to produce abstractions of the storylines from "One-armed Swordsman" or "Dubei Dao" and "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" or "Shaolin 36 Fang."
Tarantino admits that he has watched many of the Shaw Brothers' classic Kungfu movies, especially enjoying such works as the "One-armed Swordsman." However, the director says that he would add some elements of his own and also something modern into his version. He was confident that his Kungfu story would be accepted by the western audiences, since films like the Asian-themed "Kill Bill" proved commercially successful.
In line with the content, Tarantino will assemble Chinese actors to form the cast. But the original speech will be in English.
