Brad Pitt contacted police Sunday night after spotting a paparazzi photographer peering into his Malibu home and trying to take photos of inside his living room, his spokeswoman said today. 

The encounter occurred at about 7:30 p.m Sunday after Pitt, who was photographed earlier in the day strolling on the beach with girlfriend Angelina Jolie and her children Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 9 months, spotted the alleged trespasser lurking outside the home, according to Pitt's spokeswoman, Cindy Guagenti. ¡¡¡¡

When the photographer realized he'd been seen by Pitt, he fled, Guagenti said. The incident was reported to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Department, officials there confirmed. ¡¡¡¡

"This just goes to show how low the paparazzi will go trying to get a photo," Guagenti said. "If they break the law, they will be arrested. This one got away but the next one won't."
