More than 2,000 children started classes in Guangzhou No. 2 Children’s Palace on Saturday, the Guangzhou Daily reported.
The new children’s palace consists of the southern tower and the northern tower. The northern tower was opened Saturday as the training area. The southern one, which will be used as a public service area, is still under construction.
According to Huang Nanbing, director of the palace, about 20,000 students in total will be enrolled next semester.
Different colors are used to represent different floors of the northern tower. There are multimedia classrooms and classrooms specially equipped for subjects like 3D animation and how to play the drums. On the fourth floor, there are music recording studios as well, which allow children to record CDs by themselves.
A system to learn English using animation is available on the second floor. More than 120 cameras were set up in the corridors to improve security.
The children’s museum, said to be the first in China, is located on the first and second floors of the northern tower.
The children’s palace also provides training for the disabled kids. These classes will commence soon.
