Sources reveal that the biggest conservatory exhibit hall in China is to be built in South China Institute of Botany, which is located in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province.
Covering an area of around 100,000 square metres and involving an investment amounting to 100 million RMB, the conservatory is expected to be put into operation by October next year. More than 2,000 spices of floristic will be on display upon its completion.
The architecture design tender for the hall attracts more than 20 designers from home and abroad, among which "petals of kapok" from Richel, a French company, "fluttering butterflies in flowery Guangzhou" from a Beijing company, and "sailing" from Rough Brothers, an American company, are believed to be the best three.
South China Institute of Botany is the largest arboretum in South China, as suggested by its name, as well as an important base for the tropical and subtropical plant research in China.
