The magic of AmCham (American Chamber of Commerce in South China) Winter Ball is that it lasts for months with all those beats and dances in your head. This year's Winter Ball themed A Journey Through Time was no exception with another 500 dignitaries on board.
As soon as the clock ticked into 6PM last Saturday (Nov. 17), the Journey Through Time departed right on schedule with an elegant yet vibrant cocktail mixer at the theatre-like lobby of LN Garden Hotel in the backdrop of each era's signature music and moves. The guests then went through the time tunnel to find themselves at the grandiose ballroom.
Opened by live orchestra, the night went back in time to the innovative waltz in the 14th century and the passionate tango in the 19th. Later came the impersonated performances of the 70’s Queen and Elvis Presley, which, no doubt, summoned every best dancer in the crowd to swamp the dance floor.
Meant as a surprise to everyone, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented on stage to Director of AISG Dr. Bernadette Carmody who’s been serving the education industry for nearly four decades.
Another highlight of the night was the Best-Dressed Award, featuring luxury designer bags and accessories. Two rounds of raffle draws ensued, giving away over one-million-yuan worth of round-trip international air tickets, hotel presidential suites, fine wine and dine and many more to the crowd.

Last but not least, we had an “O.M.G. it’s Kenny G!” moment at our Winter Ball. The legendary Grammy Award-winning smooth jazz saxophonist from Seattle is the best-selling musician of the modern era with global sales exceeding 75 million albums. Here, Kenny G is hugely adored by the Chinese audiences. He made his entrance at our Ball right after his show at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall that night, getting guests to line up just to selfie with him. The iconic idol stayed till breaking dawn of the night.
