Photo review of Boluo Temple Fair in Guangzhou

The three-day 14th Guangzhou Folk Culture Festival and Boluo Temple Fair kicked off at the Nanhai God Temple on March 27. It celebrates the birth of Boluo, the God of the Sea, and fell on March 29 this year according to Chinese lunar calendar.

The fair, also known as a-thousand-year temple fair, is one of the biggest traditional folk temple fairs in Guangzhou, dating back to some 1,000 years.The temple fair has been included on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2011.

Variety of traditional rituals and folk performances were put on show during the temple fair, including the "Five Sons Worship Their Sea God Father" ritual, lion dances, dragon dances and Cantonese opera. Let’s review this magnificent temple fair through a group of photos.
