On 24th December of 2017, the final of the "Taste Dongguan" Star Chef Competition was held in Machong Town of Dongguan. Themed with Banquets for Joyous Occasion, the chefs were required to make dishes with characteristic ingredients in Dongguan for the banquet within 100 minutes. Ultimately, Dongguan Yingbin Hotel gained first prize, followed by Guangdong Regal Palace Hotel and Machong Longhu Hotel.
Lasting 3 months, the competition led Dongguan residents to discover special cuisines in the city together via the preliminary competition, 6 quarterfinals and semi-finals. During the competition, Top 10 Dishes with Dongguan Taste were selected by professional judges, media judges and public judges.
