Taking advantage of the recently concluded 2017 Tripartite Economic Summit in Guangzhou, fashion designers from New Zealand partnered with Guangdong Fashion Week’s Autumn session 2017 on the night of November 13th, bringing their unique Maori-style works to a Cantonese audience for the first time.

Designers spoke repeatedly of the influence of Maori culture on their works, and many of the delicate garments had Maori characteristics in pattern, color and style.

Initiated in 2001, Guangdong Fashion Week is a fashion event held twice a year in Guangzhou, becoming an energetic platform for the fashion clothing industry in the greater Pearl River region. In recent years, Guangdong Fashion Week has increasingly focused on international exchange with global fashion designers, attracting top designers worldwide to participate.
