From now on till Feb. 28, 2017, the 2017 New Shamian Lighting Festival will be held at Shamian Island, spanning from Spring Festival to Lantern Festival.
Shamian Island (沙面) is an island in the city of Guangzhou that is dotted with various historical buildings. It is a good place to view European-style architecture, since the island served as an important port for foreign trade from the Song through the Qing Dynasties.
How to get to Shamian (沙面): Take Guangzhou Metro Line 1 or 6 and get off at Huangsha station (黄沙站)， then walk across a flyover to get to Shamian. Or take any bus with one of the following stations, Culture Park (文化公园), Liu Er San Road (六二三路) and Huangsha (黄沙).
