Makoto Shinkai is a Japanese director of anime and former graphic designer. His new film, Your Name, is a time-traveling love story about two Japanese teenagers. Since its premiere in Japan this August, the film has been watched by over 12 million people. It has earned more than 16 billion yen in domestic box office receipts.
Shinkai's use of digital technology allows him to place the story in "real" locations. The scenes are illustrated in hyper-real detail, turning commonplace sites into movie settings and fan meccas.
That film will be released in China on December 2. Currently, a image filter goes viral online to create same effect like the scenes in that film.
Newsgd.com makes a variety of Guangdong-based pictures using that filter as follow.
