Located at Liannan Yao Autonomous County, Nangang Gupai (Pai: houses line up rows by rows) Village is the biggest, oldest, and most representative Yao Village that is also known as “China’s Top Yao Village”. Nangang Gupai Village is surrounded by precipitous mountains, with all kinds of rivers roaring through. Looking from the foot of mountains, you can see rows of ancient buildings standing on the hills. The buildings are all in unique forms, made up of black bricks and tiles. Among the three minority autonomous counties in Guangdong, Liannan has the longest history and most minority population, among which the Yao minority accounts for 52.6%. In addition, Liannan is the only settlement of Pai Yao. Until now, the buildings in Nangang Gupai Village are the largest and best-preserved ones among those of other Yao villages.
