Kim Yong II, prime minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), said Thursday (Jan 22)聽that the DPRK is willing to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation with China.
The DPRK-China friendship has a long history and was rooted in the hearts of the two peoples, Kim said during a meeting with Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
2009 is the "Year of DPRK-China Friendship," and the DPRK is ready to further expand cooperation with China in such fields as the economy and trade, Kim said.
Wang said top leaders of the two counties have attached great importance and care to the bilateral ties, which is a guarantee for the steady development of Sino-DPRK relations.
The two peoples have profound feelings for each other, which provides a firm foundation for the Sino-DPRK friendship, Wang said.
Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the central committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, also held talks with Wang. Dialogue between the two governing parties is of great importance for the Sino-DPRK relations, Choe said.
The DPRK is ready to strengthen inter-party dialogue with China and make efforts to build a better friendly cooperative relations with China, he noted.
